Our client is looking to fill up the role of Operations Director (Zambia), the incumbent shall be responsible for the manufacturing, technical and support service operations of the Company at both the Ndola and Lusaka manufacturing sites and to insure that agreed operational standards and benchmarks are achieved.

Desired Candidate Profile


Graduate engineer from a recognised University / Institute of Technology.

Post graduate qualification e.g. MBA / M. Tech will be an added advantage.

Age: Preferably between 35 and 45 years

Experience Required:

Broad spectrum packaging industry experience complimented with in depth manufacturing exposure in any one of the above mentioned disciplines stated in order of importance and significance.

Plant Management Experience: previous experience is a pre-requisite. The Operations Manager / Director will be required to control operations at both sites.

Project Management Experience: Significant capital project and technology change / absorption projects are to be managed.

Budgetary Control: P&L responsibility for the various manufacturing disciplines.

World Class Performance / Manufacturing Excellence: previous experience is again a pre-requisite as is the ability to promote learning and training in the various disciplines involved. KPI measurement, TPM, Spoilage Reduction and other Operational Improvement programmes are a major area of focus moving forward.

Job Description


  • To ensure that all manufacturing disciplines achieve the 7 Key Performance Indicator targets set annually and to manage Improvement Programmes to maintain a continuous improvement culture.
  • To benchmark operational performance against Group and International Standards and initiate improvement programmes as deemed necessary.
  • To conduct periodic reviews of plant capacity and capabilities for strategic decision making.
  • To conduct periodic reviews of manpower and skills requirements and initiate improvement plans.
  • To annually review succession plans to insure skills continuity in the operational environment.
  • To provide support and direction to Department Heads as necessary.


  • To ensure that products are made to the highest standards and agreed specifications.
  • To develop and promote the Company’s Quality Standards to Group and WCP levels.
  • To provide people and equipment capable of meeting the agreed quality standards.


  • To ensure all machinery and equipment is capable and meets OEE and WCP standards.
  • To insure machine capability and availability through the Total Productive Maintenance concept .
  • To provide the right tools for the right job and to control the same.


  • To ensure continuous improvements in the 7 KPI’s and WCP Standards.
  • To actively participate and promote all WCP concepts and activities.
  • To provide a Safe and Healthy working environment across all manufacturing disciplines.


  • The Operations Director is expected to meet all agreed Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and any other targets that may be set by the Board or Group from time to time.
  • The Operations Director is the World Class Performance Champion in Zambia.
  • The Operations Director is expected to provide input and technical expertise in all policy making and strategic planning decisions taken by the Company.
  • All operational expansion and / or upgrade projects initiated by the Company shall be the responsibility of the Operations Director from inception to installation and commissioning.
